Plodding Along

Chuck Elston

Still ain't back to my normal routine but the wife's getting better every day.  She's still on a walker but I know that within the next week or so she'll be using a cane.  Her hip is getting stronger with each therapy and hopefully soon she'll be back to normal.  God willing and the creek don't rise - I get caught up with AH.com very soon.

Out of the loop

Chuck Elston

Been kinda out of the loop lately.  The wife had hip replacement surgery last week and we been working at getting her back on her feet.  Plus now I gots all the girly-man work to do Heh! Heh! Heh!  Makes you really appreciate all that the little woman does during the day.  Anyway - I did manage to get a couple of hours hunting in but din find anything.  Think I need to find some new areas to look in to broaden my horizons.  Looking forward to my wife getting more stable so we can get out on the boat and do some fishing.

Good Day for Huntin'

Chuck Elston

Went down the logging road today.  Real heavy rain last night and lots of washouts but no arrowheads.  Lots and lots of chips and flakes, so the promise is there.  Just gotta keep on keepin' on till something turns up.

Wedding Weather

Chuck Elston

Just returned from Central/Western Florida (SpringHill) where I had the honor of being best man at my son's wedding.  What a whirlwind trip.  Wife and I left on Thursday AM and drove 12 hours to get there.  Got very little sleep before we were up and off trying to catch up and attend rehearsal, then dinner.  Up the next day for the PM wedding.  Again not much sleep and a long day.  Wedding was at 4PM and we finally got home around 10 but not to bed til after 1AM.  Up in 6 hours, load up the truck and head back to Tenn.  Got as far as Macon, Ga before we just had to crash.  Got a good night sleep and finished the trip.  Had a super time.  We both really enjoyed the wedding but needed to slow down a bit.

Beautiful Day

Chuck Elston

What a day.  Sun out, warm but balmy.  Unfortunately no hunting today - gotta mow the yard.  It takes me about 2.5 hrs to mow and 1/2 hr to weedeat.  Just got started when I came across this snapping turtle trying to cross the yard.  Nasty attitude for such a little guy, actually it wasn't such a little guy.  May have been a female on the hunt.  Anyway - no turtle soup - just an assist across the yard to the downhill side toward the pond.  I did get to hunt yesterday and this week and found a real nice point lying in the upper logging road.  If my arms had been longer, I wouldn't have had to get off the 4wheeler.  Truly.  It was propped up in some tall grass, point up.  We've had some real hard downpours over the past couple of weeks and I haven't been up on this road for over 3 months.  Nice find for a short hunt.  I posted it under "A Depends Moment."

Fickle Weather

Chuck Elston

We got heavy thunder storms about today.  Only last a few minutes but boy does it rain.  Guess this will be an indoor day for me.  The neighbors planned on having a big Easter egg hunt for their Grand kids (big family) but that may get put on hold.  Here it comes again - wow.  Ah well, it should be a peaceful and quiet day.  Happy Easter All.  ---Chuck
