Last week I was talking to my friend Rob Dills and we both decided we needed a little break from work and set plans to go metal detecting and field walking this past weekend. Rob showed up detector and walking stick in hand and brought along his daughter Anna to help us find the treasures :-) Anna is ten, and all I can say is that she is a testament to some great parenting! What a joy to have along on our trip.
The metal detecting yielded slim results, so we picked up my fiance Angela and treked off to scour some fields in quest of the illusive Ohio arrowheads.

Since Rob had the camera, he is not in the pic, but I am to the left, my fiance' Angela in the middle and Anna who stuck it out all day is to the right and below. At ten, Anna is going to be one heck of an artifact collector, and has already scored several arrowhead finds out in the fields.

We had been finding alot of Coshocton flint debatage in the field we were in, and when I first spotted this one, I really thought it was just a left-over piece of Coshocton flint. When Once I bent down, I could see it was an arrowhead, and was glad to feel some resistance when I tugged at it.

We covered a good amount of ground, and found several arrowheads, a few scrapers and a couple of points that we didnt picture - and a great time was had by all. Arrowhead hunting is one of the most relaxing things I do, and I love that feeling you get when you are out in the fields just knowing that at any moment you could walk up on an artifact that hasnt been held for thousands of years :-)
