I'm a retired sailor after 27 yrs Naval service. Live on a mountain in Byrdstown, Tn and walk the hills and creeks looking for artifacts/fossils. Can't stay away from the water tho - got a pontoon boat that the wife and I go out on to lollygag around on and fish. It's a wonderful life.
Don't belong to many websites like this. Was look'n round and found this to be kinda interesting. Seems like many people have similar interests. So - figured I'd give it a try. I usually obtain most of my artifacts on top of the ground after a good rain. My home is located on a mountain and some of the logging roads are excellent areas to find stuff. When I first started - I couldn't go a day without finding something but after a few years it's kinda slowed down. Have a few caves/overhangs that look interesting and I might start doing some diggingin them. I have the owner's permission, but want to use a systematic approach rather than just start digging with a pick and shovel - like some have already done. Would be interested in hearing from anyone with some experience in the archaeology approach.
Hey Don - Glad I finally got ya as a friend. Was having trouble connecting. Where do you do your hunting and have you been having any luck lately. It's soooo dry. ---Chuck
